Article #19 – Fulfillment (Self & 3rd Party)

I’m not gonna lie, if you’ve made it this far into the process you’ve already done an amazing job!  You should be very proud of yourself and your team.  bring-it-onReady for the last major step before all your customers are smiling?

Fulfillment is the process of taking individual items off pallets, out of cartons, and packing them into appropriate shipping materials (box / void fill), and shipping them off to each individual backer.  You can hire (and pay) someone to do this for you, or do it yourself.

I think it best therefore to break this Article into two parts.  First I’ll give some tips on hiring a 3rd party company first (cause you’ll wanna do that too for international shipments regardless), and then for the brave I’ll cover all the terrific ins and outs of self-fulfillment.

Note: For the sake of these articles I’ll assume you are operating from within the USA.  If you are not, for the rest of these Articles simply reverse the logic.
(Note: since the USA doesn’t have an import VAT for now, shipping from your home country to the USA may be cheaper than freighting to here to ship from within.  Simply price compare.)

Thanks for the articles and the information you are providing.
I’m looking for a good fulfillment center for a Kickstarter project.

my project is a board game and manufacturing in China.
I think the price is around 25USD from China to USA/Europe
I think the best way is to ship in bulk in pallet and then send 1 by 1 or use Amazon fulfillment, but its hard to understand the shipping price for the pledge.
