Unique Prototypes!

…are just that!  The initial production design after an idea in words is turned into a first physical reality.

Details:

More often than not, when we make a new Dice Set or Weird Stuff we prototype it first.  This assures the end goal is as intended.

The prototypes become the design that is then approved or rejected for mass production.

If approved, mass production never looks exactly the same, leaving us with really unique designs that sorta match the final run.
If rejected, we re-prototype, with two options: Approved (as above), or just kill the design and it never gets made.

Either way, what’s left behind is a really rare gem of a dice set.

These prototypes are therefore incredibly rare, and oft clamored for.  And so, after years of hoarding them all to myself, I thought it would be fun and interesting to start selling the prototypes.  We used to years back, and they were always popular.  So allow us to again!

Mystery buys?

Yes.  Since we have so many options to personally choose from for you, and photographing each one in light that properly does it justice (as photos never do my dice justice!), we are offering them as Mystery items, and thus at a lower price than we otherwise would.

Plus this allows me A) reduce your total cost and B) customize the gift to you!  Be sure to leave “Order Notes” during checkout with color or style preferences if you have any!

Options and Descriptors:

“Dice Set or Weird Stuff”

• Dice Set – This will be a standard 7-die set.  All available sets include all 7-dice.
• Weird Stuff – This will something from our Weird Stuff lines.  These are even more rare, and cost more to make.

“Choose your Rarity Level”

• Rare – A max of 4 copies of this prototype design ever existed; likely 3 or less.  The set designed off of it may still in print, or it could be a less expensive style/design, but not necessarily.  They’re awesome, and an nice entry level special item.  Though they cost less, they’re still one of a kind prototypes!  Color preferences are most likely to be honored here.
• Super Rare – A max of 2-3 copies of this prototype design ever existed.  It could be pretty old, of a set no longer available, and/or of a more expensive line.  This is the most popular category.  Color preferences are fairly likely to be honored here.
• Ultra Rare – A max of 2 copies of this prototype design ever existed; usually 1, and or it means too much to John and it’s ultra hard to part with for it’s perfect uniqueness or it’s epic-fail ness.  I tend to cry when these leave, like a kid who’s mom is selling the puppies. : P  Color preferences may not be able to be honored here, as they’re very limited items.
• Epically Rare – These are crazy rare one of a kinds only, usually of a design or creation method that will never be replicated or released.  We have only 2 of these in Weird Stuff, and they’re both VERY different; and a small handful in sets!  Color preferences can’t be honored here, as they’re very specific items.  Enjoy!
